Venus
Venus reveals our values, what we deem as worthy and therefore hope to attract. Venus is the yin, receptive energy. What do we want to receive? We want to receive what we think is beautiful, what makes us comfortable, what tastes good to us, feels good to us, smells good, sounds good, and so on. Venus rules pleasure and our senses, our senses are our information receptors. We evaluate what we experience. The root word in evaluate is value. What do we sign value to? We do that with our senses.
Venus rules love because we all want to receive love, we all value it, whether we admit it or not. (Yes, even you.) When we love something we treat it as if it is valuable to us. Love is an appreciation for and understanding of the divinity in the existence of whatever/whoever is on the other end. So Venus shows us how we love. Venus shows us the love we hope to receive because love is also about reception and reciprocation. Venus shows us how we value and love ourselves as well because self-love is the root of our relationship with everything else.
Venus also rules money and assets because generally, those are what people consider valuable but that’s not all that Venus is about.
Art is ruled by Venus because artistic expression takes vulnerability and is highly valuable for that reason. Art is unique and so the essence and genuineness of a piece cannot be recreated even if it is printed or copied. The original piece that the artist really touched and put their emotion into will always exceed the 2d photocopy. Art shows an admiration for something. People often draw portraits of others or they create images and memories that are dear to them. In mythology, people often treated Venus as a statue, they stopped and stared. There is much art inspired by Venus, there are still many variations of Venus statues across the world. Art is creation. The ability to give life to something, to immortalize it through art.
Venus represents women and feminine energy. Biologically speaking, AFAB people who are usually in life identified as women have the power of creation. The receptor in the process of conception. The one to nurture the creation. Venus's energy is nurturing, loving, harmony oriented, creative, and receptive.
However, Venusian energy can be expressed in a lot of ways. Venus doesn’t always have to be soft and surely isn’t docile. Venus through the signs shows us that there are many different ways to display feminine energy and to be loving. What we value, how we evaluate, and how we express our love can vary as well. We just have to find people who understand our values and align with them or at least can work together with our values even if they’re not in the exact same place.
