Astro for June 1, 2022
Today, the Moon is at home in its sign of rulership, Cancer. We are surely feeling the emotions. We are holding space for our emotions and receiving loving support from the people we love as we return the favor. Venus is also at home in Taurus right now and today the Moon forms a sextile to our sweet Aphrodite. This sextile between the two feminine entities of astrology will have us leaning more into our yin nature. We are allowing ourselves to rest, to feel, to indulge, and to be doted on and supported, even if only by our own attentiveness.
Lilith cannot be ignored in the mix because as the Moon sextiles Venus it also forms a conjunction with Lilith today. Here we have somewhat of a Holy Trinity of Feminity. It makes me think about the triple Goddess dynamic: Mother, Maiden, Crone. Venus is the enchanting, sweet maiden. The Moon is the nurturing, emotional Mother. Lilith is the mystical Crone that takes no shit. Today, it is necessary for us to see the ways in which our nurturing side can quickly become bitter. We see today how over-extending and catering could leave us feeling betrayed. It’s great to be a committed caretaker and devoted lover but not at the cost of your own right to receive. Today, we feel as though we reap the benefits of giving and caring within our boundaries. We practice our right to say no and in return, we are able to see firsthand that our no is not a cancellation of love. We are not being unreasonable when we say no, we are practicing self-love and balance when we say no.
Today is one of those days where you have to speak up for your needs. If you open your mouth about your needs today, you’ll be met with the fulfillment of not only your needs but desires as well. Lilith greets the moon with the reminder to stand up for self. How we can stand up for ourselves and tell others how we feel if we don’t even know how we feel? Take the space to be real with yourself, even if it hurts. If you’re dissatisfied say it. It won’t hurt anything but maybe someone else’s ego but if they love you they will be more than willing to see what can be done so that everyone can feel satisfied with the situation. Venus in Taurus wants things to be fair and enjoyable for everyone, however, Taurus rules the tongue and the throat. Taurus knows the standard of what it wants and won’t settle, so it knows that it must not be afraid to ask for special modifications to get it just right. Mercury retrograde in Taurus you might stumble over your words a bit. It could be a challenge to articulate that desire, especially if you’ve never said it out loud. Yet, if you never say it no one will ever be able to help you to meet your satisfaction. That includes you, you can’t even help yourself if you are too ashamed to admit what you need help with.
Venus in Taurus is waitinggggg to pour that special, sensual, tender, intentional loving into your life once you open up your mouth and hands to receive it.
If we have not been practicing our boundaries and saying no when we need to, then today you might actually feel a little funky. It could feel as though you’ve been slighted. Reflect on what you could’ve done better to advocate for yourself, instead of reacting to your feelings of lack and insecurity. Saturn square Mercury in Retrograde is stopping by to hold us accountable for all the words we did and didn’t say these past few weeks. How can you be mad at someone else’s ignorance when it was your job to enlighten them on matters that are concerning them? Do you expect someone else to know you better than you know yourself? Or have you been put on mute for so long that you are afraid to speak up, in fear that you will be shushed or denied?
If no one else is actually present denying you, why should you keep denying yourself? Don’t focus on past no’s. Shit, not even recent and present no’s. Focus on your personal right to say yes or no, when you can.
Lilith in astrology represents the experience of and reaction to betrayal, inequality, oppression, and overall just being forced into a very tough spot. Yet, Lilith also includes the journey to finding your power after some of these unfortunate experiences. This transit can bring feelings of retaliation, resentment, and disempowerment into our awareness. It is through the awareness of such deeply felt and avoided emotion that we find the power that we feel we have lost in the situation, we usually find that power strengthened. Lilith’s conjunction with the moon makes me consider the idea of self-betrayal and taking care of others before oneself, especially with this Cancer placement. We cannot avoid our own accountability by blaming others. When we overextend ourselves, why do we expect people to say no? What care are you extending to yourself? Who do you take the best care of? Yourself? Your possessions? Your lover? Your pet? Your plant? Your phone? Your work? Your child? Remember to take care of you as well, if not better, than you take care of others.
Today’s message from this Lilith transit is, to stand firm in your no, for what you won’t accept because eventually, it will lead you to the part when you can say yes, and truly mean it. If you say yes too soon or for reasons that are not your own you subject yourself to slow torture that other people will say you agreed to.
If there is someone in your life who will exile you over saying no… then you are not meant to be in their garden and vice versa. Yet, in the same breath, you have to practice saying no because that will show you the people who no matter whether you choose yes or no, you know they will choose to continue to love you regardless. That is what you deserve.
